Lamborghini, Versace hook up again

Blinged: Versace LP640 reveals its 471kW/660Nm V12 for the first time.

Italian mega-brands link up again to offer a Versace roadster and Lambo fashion wear

By MARTON PETTENDY 4 July 2008

ITALY’S other supercar company, Lamborghini, and the same nation’s famed fashion house, Versace, have again joined forces to create the limited-edition Murcielago LP640 Roadster Versace and a line of Lamborghini-branded fashion accessories.

On sale from November via Versace boutiques and selected Lamborghini dealers around the world, the “Collection LP640” comprises a trolley bag, suit carrier, sports bag, briefcase, suitcase, gloves, driving shoes, belt, wallet, key ring, beauty case, hat and jeans, all crafted in black matte calf skin.

And the LP640 Versace? Available through Lamborghini’s “ad personam” customisation program, it gets a transparent engine cover to reveal its 6.5-litre V12, black and white leather-clad seats and full-grain soft nappa leather trim, hand-embroidered with the Versace Greek fret motif, for the instrument panel, doors and centre console.

There’s also a million-dollar price tag in Australia for the special-order-only model, which represents a premium of less than $300,000 over the garden-variety LP640 Roadster ($714,693).

“Our collaboration with Versace turned out to be an excellent experience and is an example of how we are pursuing our strategy of developing luxury products outside of luxury sportscars,” said Automobili Lamborghini president and CEO Stephan Winkelmann.

“We are proud to be in this prestigious, made-in-Italy partnership with Versace.”
